Having fun in a safe Christian environment

About our organisation...

BGs is a Christian based group for school children.  Our aim is to offer a safe environment for the children to build relationships and provide an opportunity for them to have contact with Christians in an informal way.  About 60% of the children do not attend church on a Sunday.

All adult leaders have completed CRB checks and attended child protection training.  We have also paid for the majority of leaders to attend St.Johns first aid training.

The following is an extract from our Vision document:

For the children:

  • For each child to have fun in a safe Christian environment.
  • For each child to be able to develop relationships in a Christian environment with both Christians and non-Christians.
  • For the children to have the opportunity to hear some basic Christian teaching through activities and ask questions of the leaders.
  • For children to have the opportunity to be involved in outreach and evangelism to non-church children.
  • For children to have a high standard Christian centric alternative to secular youth activities.
  • For each child to be and feel safe and secure within his/her group.
  • For each child to have leaders that they can talk with and trust.

For the families:

  • For the families of the children to be made welcome by the leaders and given clear information about the groups activities.

For the leaders and assistants:

  • To be clear on all systems, structures, ethos vision.
  • To feel positive and confident in his/her role.
  • To feel supported, encouraged and guided by the rest of the team.
  • To have the opportunity to build relationships with the rest of the team, the children and the children's parents.
  • To have the opportunity to witness to the children and their parents.

We will seek to meet this vision as a leadership team through:

  • Plenty of prayer
  • Good communication between leaders.
  • A well-planned, well-organised and well-resourced programme of events.
  • Providing a safe and secure environment that encourages the children to relax, play, share, witness and mentor each other.
  • Encouraging children to share and participate in prayer times and Christian workshop activities.
  • Making ourselves available for children to talk to.
  • Effective training for leaders and assistants.
